When you end up with a single Internet connection point (a single wired connection for your laptop at the hotel or your smartphone connected via USB to your computer), you can share this single Internet connection with other devices nearby. You may have a Wi-Fi tablet or be with a friend who would like to connect. Use the Windows 10 Network Sharing Tool to wirelessly share your laptop’s wired or mobile broadband Internet connection with other devices.
1. Right-click on thenetwork icon in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen.
2. A menu will open. Choose Open Network and Internet Settings.
3. A new window will open, displaying the status of your network. locate mobile hotspot in the menu on the left of the window.
4. The main body of the window will move to show your mobile hotspot settings. First, take a look at the drop-down menu of Share my Internet connection from. Make sure it is set to your wired or tethered connection.
5. Below is the current network name and password for Windows hotspot. You can leave them as they are or press To modify to define them yourself.
6. If you change your hotspot settings, enter the new network name and password in the pop-up window, then tap Save.
7. Review your mobile hotspot settings. If you’re happy with everything, toggle the switch marked Share my internet connection with other devices on position enabled.
8. Your hotspot will now be available for your other devices to connect to. Locate it as you would any other Wi-Fi connection in the list of available networks and connect with the password you set in the hotspot settings.
9. From here you can turn your mobile hotspot on and off from the network icon in the system tray. Select the icon and the menu will open. Select or deselect the Stitch thumbnailmobile access down to turn your hotspot on or off.
Sharing a connection in earlier versions of Windows

- Use Internet Connection Sharing when you have a laptop wired to a router or modem and want to share the connection through your Wi-Fi adapter or a second Ethernet port.
