How to Manage Bookmarks in Chrome on PC, iPhone, and Android

Whether it’s for work or play, we all have our favorite sites – the ones we visit most often. If you don’t use technology much, you’re probably still typing the entire URL into the address bar, which is not only frustrating but also time-consuming. The good news is that today’s web browsers, such as Google Chrome, allow us to store, organize, search, and manage web page bookmarks. Now that you know what they are, let’s see how to manage bookmarks in Chrome on PC, iPhone, and Android.

Let’s start with some bookmark basics. the Favorite bar is where your bookmarks/root folders will be displayed. Other Favorites is where all unlisted bookmarks or those not belonging to specific folders reside. mobile bookmarks is where you can find your saved bookmarks from your phone.

Every great cleaning session always starts with eliminating superfluous things that you no longer need. Likewise, it is best to delete old and unused bookmarks. For remove bookmarks in chrome:

  1. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner
  2. click on Bookmarks.
  3. Right click on the ones you don’t want anymore and select Remove.

If you have a favorites bar, right-click the desired favorite again and click Delete. Now we can move on to other ways to organize bookmarks in Chrome.

Create a favorites folder for each category

The best way to organize bookmarks in Chrome is to create and manage bookmarks in folders. Before even looking at your favorites, we recommend that you create a new folder for several categories. You can create categories based on your interests, such as study, work, fashion, cooking, books, etc. While you’re at it, you can also delete folders you no longer need.

How to Create a Chrome Favorites Folder on PC

  1. Press and hold i at the same time Ctrl + Shift + O keys to open the bookmark manager. If you’re on a Mac, tap Command + Shift + O.
  2. You can view all of your existing folders on this page.
  3. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
  4. click on Add a new folder. You can name it according to any category you want.

You can also right-click on the bookmarks bar and click Add Folder. Similarly, you can also create one subfolder in the main category folder. Click the desired folder on the Manage Bookmarks page, then click the three dots in the upper right corner. click on Add a new folder.

How to Create a Chrome Favorites Folder on iPhone

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser.
  2. to touch Favorites on the home page.
  3. At the bottom of the list, tap New folder.
  4. to touch finished.

How to Create a Chrome Bookmarks Folder on Android

Unfortunately, there is no exact option to create a folder in Android. However, we can create the folder via the following method.

  1. Open Chrome and tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
  2. to touch Favorites.
  3. Select the desired bookmark.
  4. to touch to move to.
  5. to touch New folder.

Move your bookmarks to a new folder

Now that we’ve designated the folders by category, let’s see how we can move and organize our bookmarks.

How to Move Favorites to a New Folder on PC

  1. You open Favorite management.
  2. Click and drag the desired bookmark to the new folder.

If you have a favorites bar, you can directly drag and drop favorites or folders.

How to Move Favorites to a New Folder on iPhone

  1. Open the list of bookmarks and tap Edit.
  2. To select School bag.
  3. Choose a designated folder to move the bookmark to.

If you want to move more bookmarks, you can follow these steps.

  1. to touch Edit in the lower right corner. It will allow you to select multiple bookmarks.
  2. Select the ones you want to move.
  3. At the bottom, tap other.
  4. to touch Move.
  5. Choose a designated folder.

How to Move Favorites to a New Folder on Android

  1. Open the Chrome app.
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner
  3. to touch Favorites.
  4. You can choose a bookmark from any folder. Tap the three dots next to each bookmark.
  5. to touch to move to and select the designated folder.

Also, you can long press any bookmark you want and rearrange them to arrange them in any order you want.

Sort bookmarks alphabetically

Since we have all our bookmarks in the correct destinations, we can even organize them alphabetically. This will also make it easier to find your bookmarks.

  1. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner and click on Bookmarks.
  2. click on bookmark management.
  3. Open the desired folder.
  4. Click on three dots in the upper right corner.
  5. Select on Sort by name.

Note that this feature is not available on Chrome for mobile.

Rename bookmarks/folders

If you have a lot of bookmarks, chances are you saved them quickly using a random or default name. So now we can put whatever name we want on it. However, if possible, we recommend that you keep short one-word names. With long names, the bookmark bar may seem cluttered and it may even be difficult to find the desired bookmark.

On PC

  1. Open the bookmark manager or directly select a bookmark in the header bar.
  2. Highlight a favourite.
  3. Right click and select Edit.
  4. You can now change the name of the bookmark.

Android

  1. Tap the three dots next to the desired favourite.
  2. to touch Edit.

OniPhone

  1. Long press on a bookmark and select edit bookmark.
  2. After changing the name, press to finish.

Where are bookmarks in Chrome?

You can always search for a bookmark in the header bar or in the bookmark manager search option. However, if you want to find a faster way to locate a bookmark, you can use the hashtag feature. While naming or renaming a bookmark, just add a hashtag from its category. For example: add a hashtag like “#Fashion” or “#Work”. Now you can just open a new tab and just type the hashtag in the URL address bar. Now all bookmarks that have the hashtag with their name will be displayed.

If you want your bookmarks neatly organized on another device or browser, you can export and import them easily. To do this, you will need to convert your bookmark data into an HTML file.

  1. You open Favorite management.
  2. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
  3. click on Export bookmarks.
  4. Give the name of the file and click to safeguard.

To recover bookmarks exported to another PC, you can transfer them using USB flash drive or even cloud-based storage platforms. Alternatively, you can also follow these steps:

  1. You open Favorite management.
  2. Click on the three dots
  3. To select import bookmarks.
  4. You can select the HTML-file saved bookmarks.
